A Union Sheet Metal Worker is one of the finest trained Craftsmen of all the building trades. They fabricate, install and service architectural sheet metal, kitchen equipment, and ductwork/equipment for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in residential and commercial buildings. They also work with many materials including galvanized, copper, aluminum brass, and a wide variety of specialty materials.


Our training center is a state of the art facility, where the apprentices and journeymen of Local #88 are trained. The training center also hosts classes and training for the International Training Institute (ITI), the educational arm of the unionized sheet metal industry, bringing in journeymen from all over the country. We are equipped with computers for CAD drawing, sheet metal fabrication equipment, drafting, and welding (GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, Plasma, and Orbital). We also are equipped with a full service lab and testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB) lab. A fire life safety (FLS) lab is currently under construction.


Our training center is accredited through the ITI and is an AWS accredited weld testing facility.





Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


1. Must have the desire and aptitude to listen, learn and work with your hands and mind

2. Be at least 18 years of age

3. Posess a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE)

4. Provide copies of the following documents at the time of application (IN PERSON):


      A. Birth Certificate

      B. High School Diploma or HSE (if unavailable, sealed transcripts with graduation date are accepted)

      C. Valid ID or Driver's License (valid NV Driver's License required prior to acceptance)

      D. College Grade Transcripts (if applicable)

      E. Military Release Papers DD-214 (if applicable)

      F. Proof of Previous Sheet Metal Experience (if applicable)

5. Pass a Basic Math and Reading Competency Exam administered by the Committee (date decided by the Committee)

6. Appear before the JATC Board for an oral interview

7. Those Applicants selected are subject to a Sustance Abuse Test prior to being indentured
