Electrical Apprentice (Apply in-person by appointment only)
Electrical apprenticeships offer aspiring electricians hands-on training and mentorship from experienced professionals to develop their skills in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems. These programs combine classroom instruction with practical experience, providing a structured path for individuals to become qualified and licensed electricians. We select apprentices approximately twice a year in July and January but interview and accept applications all year long. We can/will help with GI bill if you need it.
The Toledo Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (TEJATC) is committed to not only providing an educated, well-trained workforce through a cooperative labor-management education program, but also to helping workers develop the complex skills, knowledge and abilities needed to retain highly paid, prestigious jobs in the electrical construction industry. The Toledo Electrical JATC pledges to educate workers through diversified on-thejob training, supervised by qualified journeypersons and related technical classroom instruction.
This job involves reading blueprints, wiring circuits, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring safety compliance to ensure reliable and safe electrical operations.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
1. Copy of Birth Certificate
2. Official high school transcripts sent directly from the school/Official copy of GED Certificate and transcripts
3. Proof of one credit of algebra successfully completed
(All minimum requirements must be turned in within 60 days of the date of application or the application will become invalid.)
Interviewing
Determining factors for an interview are a candidate’s scholastic achievements and work experience. All qualified candidate’s results are statistically recorded and ranked. Qualified applicants will be notified by mail as to their interview date and time.
Upon Selection
If selected to participate in the apprenticeship, an applicant is required to pass a physical and drug test (you will be provided with the name of a specific facility). An applicant cannot be placed to work without this medical release.
Program Specifics
1. Length of program – 5 years
2. A minimum of 8000 hours of on-the-job training
3. A minimum of 900 hours of classroom related training
4. Starting pay – 30% of a journeyman wage
5. We currently have a partnership with Northwest State Community College that will allow apprentices to receive college credits working toward a two-year associate degree.
